What attractions to see in the Canary Islands? We have been here 2 times before. We visited more than one of them each time. We already have our favorites, and in this post we will present the ones that we think you should also see while in the Canary Islands.
In this post, we will describe our TOP 10 of the Canary Islands that you absolutely must consider when planning a trip to the area :)

Attractions – what to see in the Canary Islands
We have included all the Canary Islands we have been to, i.e.. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Of course, there are many more places worth noting. However, we wanted to choose those tastes that you will not regret when you go there, and you will regret when you do not see them :)
Traditionally, let’s start with the 10th place:
10. road to Faro de Teno, Tenerife
Road to Faro de Teno (and banana plantations), Tenerife – we have already written about this de facto place twice. The first time the road was closed, the second time you could drive on it. The place is scary because of the location of the road itself, which is between huge falling rocks and an equally steep and high cliff directly into the ocean :-)
Along the way, you can also see a sea of banana plantations, which are generally quite plentiful in the Canaries.
The Teno headland itself is also nice, and on this occasion you can already get there. If you hit the nice weather (and it’s not hard to do that here), you’ll have a nice view of Los Gigantes.
9. Morro Jable, Fuerteventura
Morro Jable, Fuerteventura – especially Playa del Matorral, with its distinctive lighthouse at almost the very center. It is the largest beach in the south of Fuertea and also one of the most beautiful in the entire Canaries.
While in the area, it is also worth exploring the town, having a bite to eat at a pub by the beach and (if you have more time) taking a ride across the mountains to Cofete beach, more for the views alone :)
8th Las Teresitas Beach, Tenerife
All in all, I’m surprised that Las Teresitas beach is so low on our list ;) It is by far the prettiest beach in Tenerife and one of the prettiest in the Canary Islands. It is located in the vicinity of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, but we even commuted to it from the Puerto de la Cruz area.
Views wonderful (especially from the nearby vantage point), good facilities (parking, showers, food), water warm and calm, sand clean…. but surfaced. The beach is artificial, yet you don’t feel it at all while being there. But mainly because of this, as many as two beaches in Fuerteventura are much higher in our ranking ;)
7. Agaete, Gran Canaria
Agaete is the only place from
Gran Canaria
Agaete is the only place in Gran Canaria that made it to our list. We are not writing about Maspalomas or Las Palmas here. So why the little-known Agaete? Because we were positively surprised by the climate we found there. A quiet seaside town, de facto hardly resembling the Canaries. The beach is quite poor, but this is not always the most important thing ;)
Have you even heard of this place while in Gran Canaria? :)
6. the Anaga Mountains, Tenerife
Anaga Mountains
in Tenerife are also a not-so-frequently discussed place, this time in Tenerife, although worth your attention. You definitely need a car to get here, as it’s worth stopping at the many viewpoints (to each side, including Teide). The road itself is also pure pleasure.
If you are afraid to drive a car on mountain roads in Tenerife we recommend this post. It’s not as scary as some people sometimes write ;)
5. park Corralejo, Fuerteventura
Corralejo Natural Park, Fuerteventura – this is not the beach itself, but a large area of sand dunes, stretching 11 km. A beautiful place, with lots of smaller and larger beaches by the ocean. It’s worth stopping here for a while, walking through the dunes and relaxing on the beach.
4. Las Playas de Cotillo, Fuerteventura
Las Playas de Cotillo on Fuerteventura is by far the best beach in the Canary Islands we have encountered. Why did she deserve this designation? It may not be as spectacular as Las Teresitas in Tenerife, but it is more cozy and natural. There are plenty of smaller and larger bays to choose from, making it easy to avoid the crowds. The area itself is also very nice. Attention to the naked people present (indeed, all over Fuerteventura) ;)
3. Lanzarote
Simply Lanzarote – as a whole. Perhaps this is the result of our last visit, when we did not expect anything special from the island. Nevertheless, it is a very green (which also surprised us) island that offers a great deal to tourists. Whether you’re looking for warm beaches to laze on, interesting places to visit, or typical tourist attractions like quad biking ;) Lanzarote is also a great place for cycling excursions with Timanfaya Park at the forefront.
We assumed 2 days to visit Lanzarote, and in our opinion this is enough time to see everything in peace (an ideal trip when, for example, we stop for a longer time in Ferteventura). However, if you are planning a week-long vacation there, you will not be bored either.
2. Masca, Tenerife
Masca, Tenerife and necessarily together with the access roads. As in the Anaga Mountains, it is advisable to come here by rental car. Views and experience unforgettable :) It is also worth to rest here for a while and have a local lunch :)
1. Teide, Tenerife
Teide
needs no introduction – it is a definite number 1 when it comes not only to Tenerife but also to the whole Canary Islands. Both if by this we mean unearthly views, as well as the hiking up the mountain. And not just because it is the highest peak in all of Spain ;) We have written about it more than once, especially on the occasion of our hiking trip to the top of the Teide volcano.
It is a definite must have for your visit to the Canary Islands! If you don’t have the strength or ability to cover at least part of the route on foot, it’s a must that you at least drive through a few viewpoints. We also wrote about Teide here.

Summary
It was difficult to accommodate all the coolest places in the Canary Islands in this list. On the one hand, we haven’t seen all the islands yet anyway, on the other hand, looking anyway, we would probably have to create a list of TOP 30 places to write to you about all the interesting corners. Also, consider the above list as such gems of gems :)
