We have already written quite a lot about the Canary Islands :) We’ve been to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuertaventura, so we’ve seen quite a lot. So why did we go there a second time? And on top of that, this time in winter!
For several reasons: there is always something left to see, places change, not only under the influence of different seasons. Secondly, this time we went in a larger group, so the experience was also completely different :)
We saw many things a second time (and sometimes it’s nice to take our time), but there was also a second time that we just discovered.
It was a special trip, we went with the closest family so the pressure was also higher, everything had to be polished to the last button ;)
The plan for the trip was simple: we flew to Tenerife as a destination, then flew to Fuerteventura, and then took the ferry for the final days to Lanzarote. We flew by charter directly from Poland to Lanzarote, from where we immediately switched to local (and mega great!) airline Binter Air and flew to Tenerife. The plan for sightseeing was ambitious, but there was also time for blissful lazing on the beaches.
During our stay we saw many places we had already been to, e.g. Masca, La Laguna, Anaga Mountains, Corralejo, Morro Jable… but we wouldn’t be ourselves if we limited ourselves to only those we had already seen. So, we enhanced our trip with some additional attractions, which we will describe in upcoming posts (including an ascent of Teide and a visit to Lanzarote).
We won’t duplicate posts about places we’ve already written about, unless something has actually changed – remember the closed road in the west of Tenerife? It’s already open! Among others, we will write about such places :)
Weather in the Canary Islands in winter?
The second time we flew to the Canaries during the winter…. our Polish winter ;) Already after the first report from the Canaries you asked us about the weather. So we’re in a hurry to respond this time, too….
The weather on site was very comfortable – it was not very hot, it was warm, and in the evenings it was cool. Temperature? Perfect! Depending on the island, the weather was more or less windy, but importantly, it was sunny and we could even get some sun and get wet in the ocean. We had the nicest weather at the end in Lanzarote – full sun, 30 degrees, zero wind.
In Fuerteventura, we also walked in dresses or shorts, but it was windier. As always, we had the most weather surprises in Tenerife, where the weather can change dramatically in a matter of minutes: there we experienced temperatures ranging from negative (on Teide) to 28 degrees (and on the same day).
As proof, a small photo:
When going to the Canary Islands in December, you have to expect a flurry of tourists and high prices. Accommodations were more expensive than when we were in September. A trip during this period also involves fewer choices, as many accommodations were booked several months ahead.
On the beaches there are no crowds, but in the city or at other attractions there are quite a few, which thieves are very eager to take advantage of…. unfortunately, and such stories happened to us this time :(
Also, pens in hand and in just a few moments we will have the first posts about more attractions and our adventures from the European Caribbean :)
