We have been to the Canary Islands twice and visited almost all of them. This is an amazing destination for a warm and safe vacation without getting too far away from Europe :)

Don’t know the difference between the Canary Islands? Welcome to this post: Which Canary Island to choose (and how are they different)? You can read there about all the Islands we visited, that is Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

Canary Islands

What islands are included in the Canary Islands?

The Canary Islands archipelago actually consists of 13 (!) islands. Of course, most of us on a daily basis when talking about the Canaries think of the 7 main islands, but there are actually more:

Island Surface
Tenerife 2 034 km2
Gran Canaria 1 560 km2
Fuerteventura 1 659 km2
Lanzarote 845 km2
La Palma 708 km2
La Gomera 369 km2
El Hierro 268 km2
Graciosa 29 km2
Alegranza 10 km2
Lobos 4 km2
Montana Clara 2,7 km2
Roque del Este 6 km2
Roque del Oeste 1,5 km2

As you can see, the 6 islets are really small, nevertheless, they can also be visited, among others. Lobos on which we were also :)

Canary Islands – do we eat Canarian or Spanish food?

OK, the Canary Islands belong to Spain, but nevertheless the distance, history and geographic location meant that we expected to experience the kind of delicacies that are typical only of the region. The influence of Spanish culture can be seen…

Fuerteventura in one day, a paradise not only for surfers

We organized our trip in such a way as to spend the last full day in Fuerteventura, which is probably the most popular destination. It is here that direct charters from Poland fly in the greatest number. Interestingly, driving around…

Canary Islands – Gran Canaria

We decided to make the most of our stay in the Canary Islands on the principle: you never know if we’ll come back here again, and we didn’t limit ourselves only to Tenerife. At least we can say that we…
