Summary of the Year 2024 - Ready for Boarding

Time for the only more personal blog post of the year! This is a tradition that has been with us for several years and we hope it will stay with us forever. So, it’s time for a recap of the year: travel, blog, store and app – there will be some numbers, some memories and some plans. We invite you to read more.

A year ago we wondered if anyone still reads recaps at all, and this year we started wondering if anyone still reads travel blogs! Of course, the numbers speak for themselves, on average we are read by about 100,000 people per month, which we consider a super result, however, we also see declines (not only us, by the way :) ).

Of course, a big part of this is our fault: we definitely create more on social media than on the blog, we have grown very fond of Instagram, where there will probably be more than 100,000 of you after the new year (THANK YOU-KU-JE-MY!). Blog content is and will be, and in the second half of the year we just bet more on the blog and more posts started to appear again. Admittedly, we still don’t publish 2+ posts per week, but there is definitely more of this content, and for now it is centered around the United States.

So let’s move on with the summary!

What was 2024 like?

This year was exceptionally active, full of news, new experiences, but also knowledge gained. It was supposed to be calmer, slower, but it didn’t work out. There have been quite a few trips, but many of them have been business trips – whether for collaborations, conferences, trainings, lectures, travel meetings and travel fairs (thank you for the invitations and the trust you have placed in us). Oh we traveled a lot with all the fair maypole ;) It was also a huge lesson and a dose of knowledge for us – through meeting you and talking with you we learned a lot, you inspired us to make several trips and even create new products. This year alone we have been to travel fairs in Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw, as well as Mamaville in Warsaw.

Although many of the trips were related to our activities, there was room for more traditional trips, such as. Route 66 in the US, Andalusia, the Tatra Mountains, the Pieniny Mountains or Sweden. We flew less by plane, definitely drove more by car and went as far as 2 times by camper van (a month in the US and 2 weeks in Sweden). You’ll find the details below in the digits comparing 2024 vs 2023.

But we don’t live by travel alone :) This year was exceptionally abundant with new products in our store. First of all, we published the book “USA. Western Part” with Roadless Publishing. With the launch of this book, for the first time, we created something completely new for us – a dedicated package page about the US West, where in addition to the book, you can also purchase an ebook, a map and a new addition to our store: TRAVEL PLANS. Initially one ready-made itinerary in the West, and over time, more, and more, and more… ;)

Currently, you can purchase one of 6 ready-made itineraries around the US, all of which can be found in our store or on our dedicated website. There’s the West, Route 66, New York, and we also have online maps for sale. Need we add that we are already planning the next one?

Of course, our item “104 attractions for children. Poland with an idea”, we see it by the number of copies sold, we see it at trade fairs and we are very tempted to publish part two, that is, another 104 attractions. In 2024, the item received the 2024 Magellan Award – an honorable mention in the Children’s Guides category. And we end the year in 16th place in our category in the Empik bestseller list (for the entire year 2024).

Of course, we still have books in the Family Travel series, namely “Family Travel – Packing” and “Family Travel – Plane with Baby” (these items are only available in our store).

Of course, in 2024, a lot of our activity revolved around our service and the free Poland mobile app for kids! If you haven’t heard of it yet, we warmly encourage you to download it (and by the way, please give us feedback on Google Play and App Store). Poland for Kids is a mobile application with places friendly to families with children. Places are added there by us, but also by you, together creating an interactive map with places worth visiting for the whole family. You will find attractions, but also hotels, restaurants or events.

This year we actively worked on its promotion, and we hope it was successful! Although we know that there are still some shortcomings, there are still not as many of these places as we would like, but the application receives a very warm reception. This year we managed to end the year with a plebiscite GOLDEN PINS Poland for children 2024 in which the chapter selected the best facilities for families with children in Poland! A few digits from 2024

Time for the traditional summary in numbers! We do them if only because we ourselves are very curious how it compares to the same statement a year ago.

As for the number of users on the blog, in 2024 we had 1,000,000 people reading us! Thank you for looking here!
Our Facebook and Instagram are growing in strength! There are already more than 154,000 fans on FB , and almost 100,000 people are following us on IG! In total, there are more than 265,000 of you on all social media channels (including TikTok, YouTube)!

The travel numbers made us realize that for further trips we definitely go for a longer period of time (min. 2 weeks). With three children and airfares once you pay a large sum, you have to take advantage of it :) Weekend trips were mostly around Poland.

We have 6 flights to our credit (2023: there were 10).
We visited 6 countries and 10 states in the US (2023: 5 countries).
We have been to 6 different airports (2023: 7 airports).
In total, we flew about 23,340 kilometers (2023: almost 30,000 kilometers).
We spent more than 35 hours on board the planes (2023: about 40 hours).
We flew 2 airlines (2023: there were three airlines).
We traveled 7,000 kilometers by camper across the USA!!! On top of that we traveled an unspecified number of kilometers around Poland and Europe.

Top 10 memories of 2024

A year ago we didn’t make it, but let’s try this year to choose the fondest travel memories of 2024.

The Wave – a beautiful rock formation, highly inaccessible not because of the difficult trail (although that too), but mainly because you have to win a lottery ticket to enter here. We succeeded: and win the ticket and go the whole route!
Tornado Alley in the U.S. – a bit of a negative memory, but it is the kind of memory that will stay with us for a long time ;)
Individual trips with children to the mountains – this year for the first time each of us took one child on a trip just the two of us ;)
Öland, Sweden – peace, quiet, nature, spending the night in a wild camper among cows and admiring sunsets.
Lake Garda – a beautiful lake, fantastic Italian towns in the area and delicious food.
Participation in the Navigator at the NCK in Krakow – a fantastic event for travelers, being on stage is a huge honor.
Ronda – an atmospheric Spanish town with a famous bridge.
Crossing Route 66 – the journey itself and the opportunity to drive an RV across the US. We dream of such another trip!
Christmas illuminations in Spain, especially in Malaga. Beautiful lights, displays and mappings. Despite the warmer climate, the festive atmosphere can be felt here.
Universal Studios in Los Angeles – a fantastic amusement park not only for rollercoaster fans.

2025 – new plans, new travels

We enter another year with a plane ticket in hand :) In just a month and a half we’ll be heading off in the opposite direction of our previous trip to Asia, and in a few days we’ll be whizzing down the slopes in our beloved Bachledka (Slovakia)!

Further plans? Nothing concrete, but a thousand ideas in my head: Sardinia, Korea, the Canary Islands, Costa Rica, Scandinavia and Finland by camper van, further Andalusia…. There are a lot of ideas, and far too little time and cash ;-)

In 2025, we will definitely continue to write (posts, travel plans, books) and edit (especially videos on IG) for you.
