Winter is not my favorite season – I much prefer the warmer, brighter months with long days. I don’t like winter, mainly because of the low exposure to daylight.
You have to get through those few weeks when you go to work before sunrise and leave after sunset. But winter can also be beautiful, if you try a little ;) And then there is no forgiveness, you have to move your butt out of the house :)
When it snows outside the window, some people only think about how much earlier they need to leave for work or what waterproof clothes to wear. And I think about the fact that in a short while white fluff will cover our roads, forests, parks and it will finally become more beautiful, brighter, safer.
This is the kind of winter I like best. Of course, the temperature must remain at the right level, because it is easy to get a plague, and then all the charm is gone :)
When it rained decently for the first time in central Poland this year, we went to Lagiewniki Forest for a walk. The views are beautiful, but our attention was more attracted to the whole families who spend an active weekend.
Snow is not an excuse, snow is an opportunity :) There were lots of children sledding, skating on the frozen water body, joggers and cyclists. Cross-country skiing was a hit, something we absolutely must try in the future :)
In winter by bike
At the moment, we are finishing the blog posts about Iceland. The frosty climate, which sticks in our heads because of this, has brought us a great desire to go on a winter bicycle tour in the aforementioned areas of Lagiewnicki Forest. We also love bicycles, and it’s been a long time since we’ve been on a longer tour (except for spinning at the gym ;-)).
So we decided to take the opportunity to bike around the forest while the snow still holds. After dressing in onions and checking our bikes, we set off for a short ride through familiar terrain.
Of course, we drove much slower and more cautiously, although it was not that hard. It was also not our first contact with snow (I also happen to ride my bike to work in winter), although the beautiful views and lack of full traction intensified in us the need to ride more safely :)
We mostly rode along beautifully snow-covered paths, sometimes only breaking through slightly melted roads.
The low temperature does not bother us at all. Anyway, it was warmer than during our last start in the Bike Orient rally:) It is known that it is cold at the beginning, but the body will warm up quickly and then you can enjoy the ride and enjoy the beautiful winter views. Beautiful!
Also today there were quite a few people (on bicycles, cross-country skis, skates or just running or walking), although fewer families, which can only be explained by overcast skies. Nevertheless, it’s very cool that we Poles are moving more and more and even cold weather is not terrible for us!
You, too, are encouraged to spend your free time actively, even in winter. The gym, training at home, is not the only possible option. It’s worth it to go outside, all you have to do is dress decently and prepare your equipment appropriately for the conditions, and you can go running or cycling! :)
Plus a small panorama at the end:
