Another weekend trip and another place in Poland that we have checked out. It was a family trip, active, we spent a lot of time in the field, and yet it was important to us that also in the hotel there was no lack of activities for the little ones.
It’s amazing how the criteria for choosing accommodations changes when you travel with children. Especially when you go to a place where the weather is not guaranteed (that is, everywhere in Poland ;-)) and you have to expect to stay a few days on the spot, in a hotel.
There is no denying it, children are an excuse for us to buy a better hotel ;) It used to be that location and cleanliness were important…. Nowadays: playground, environment, good food, extra beds, room space, etc. etc…. And we still imagine accommodation in some remote area, without all those attractions somewhere in distant countries, but when we travel in Poland we opt for more comfortable accommodations.
Today we rush to you with a review of a stay in Szklarska Poreba at the Blue Mountain Resort hotel (yes, this is the same chain where we were near Karpacz!). A place heavily geared toward families with children. We were in Karpacz in 2017 and then Osada Sniezka surprised us very positively – with attractions for children, large apartments and infrastructure. So we wanted to see if the facility in Szklarska Poreba is equally family-friendly with children.

About the Blue Mountain Resort property
At first glance, Blue Mountain Resort looks more like an apartment building than a hotel. There are several buildings connected by corridors on level 0. In front of the buildings there is quite a large parking lot, also underground (unfortunately, there is no elevator from the underground, so it is better to unpack luggage under the reception).
Each building has a separate entrance and a separate staircase. When you check in, you get a map of the facility to help you get your bearings, as it can be difficult at first.
We stayed overnight in a family room overlooking a mini ski slope (more on that below!). We had a living room with a kitchenette and dining area, a separate bedroom and a bathroom. In the bedroom, a crib for the baby was waiting for us, and an extra bed for the second child was a sofa bed.
The room was very clean and spacious. We could easily spread a blanket on the floor, put a stroller and there was still room.
However, let’s not hide the fact that we spend very little time in the hotel room during the trip! And when we found free time in the hotel we allocated it to hotel attractions for young and old, about which a few words below.
Swimming pool and spa
As part of their stay, each guest can use the aqua park located on the hotel grounds without restriction (good news: the aqua park is entered directly from the hotel, so you can go in your bathrobe).
There are indoor and outdoor pools, as well as water slides and massages. Of course, there is also a paddling pool for children :-) Sun loungers are arranged around the pools, so ideally for a moment of relaxation.
The locker rooms are coeducational, the showers and bathrooms are no longer. You can go in with the whole family and change in peace and quiet in the large space, where there are also lockable changing rooms.
It is not likely to be a place for a full day, but it is ideal to come here after an active day in the mountains.
We also tested the spa – smug staff and great massages. However, it is worth booking in advance, as there is a lot of interest and you may find that there are no available dates during your stay.
Attractions for children
We will be painfully honest now – here is swarming with children :) It did not bother us at all, because this is exactly the kind of place we were looking for, but we honestly warn all those who want a break from children ;-)
However, if, like us, you drop by here with toddlers you will be pleased, and your children even more so.
Inside there is a playroom with a monkey grove, slide, ball pool, tables, blocks and games. It is smaller than in Karpacz, but sufficient assuming that the hotel was almost full occupancy, and no one here lacked toys. In addition, there is also a room for older children with a ping pong table and consoles.
It’s for inclement weather. However, if you are lucky and hit the nice weather or the cold and rain do not scare you, there is a playground outside, in front of the hotel, and inflatables (free!) in the back. There is also a mini ski slope in the back! The property offers a ski school for children, so it may be an option just right for you!
We were on a long weekend in August, and we don’t know if this is the case every weekend or only on more crowded dates, but at check-in we were given a spread of various activities and events at the hotel for the coming days. Among them were. Meetings with big fairy tale characters, bonfire or disco.
There is also on-site bicycle rental with trailers and car seats, as well as scooters (additional fee).
Finally, we’ll just add that there is a restaurant and an ice cream parlor on the hotel premises :) Breakfast kids can eat on plastic plates with cartoon characters, and there is a children’s corner in the cafeteria (we really appreciate such things!).
Location
The Blue Mountain Resort Hotel is located in Szklarska Poreba, but you may be misled by your GPS navigation. The hotel is best reached from the center of Szklarska Poreba.
Getting to the center by car is 2-3 minutes, but in Szklarska Poreba you have to reckon with paid parking lots (we stayed at the municipal one with the option to pay with Mobilet). If you have the strength it is better to walk this piece – the road will take about 20 minutes.
There are no stores in the immediate vicinity of the hotel; we stocked up in the center of Szklarska Poreba and went there for lunch (although ordering a take-out pizza from the hotel restaurant is also a good option).
This is what you need to remember!
Despite the many pluses, it is worth mentioning a few aspects that may bother some people:
- This is a facility geared towards families with children, so if you are bothered by their presence then you’d better look for something else :)
- Location – as we wrote Above, it is slightly out of the way, not on the main road, but for us it was a mega plus, because we could immediately go out on the trail, if only to Szklarka Waterfall.
- The place is quite popular and recommended, so you should expect that there are a lot of people here. It’s worth reading, for example, the schedule of hours at breakfast indicating at what time there are the fewest people – we came around 8 – 8:30 and never had a problem finding a free table despite the hotel having full occupancy. Massages, spa rituals are worth booking in advance.
Our opinion about Blue Mountain Resort
For us, it was a great weekend! We needed a place where children would not disturb other guests, where there would be someone to play with and keep them company. A place where we know that no matter what the weather is like, there will always be an attraction for the kids!
And it was these interesting attractions and good conditions that made us leave a little later than usual every day…. :)
