The Park of Miniature Monuments of Lower Silesia in Kowary will either inspire you to visit Lower Silesia, or will be a nice reminder of the objects from the region you have visited. Regardless of which option is closer to you, it is worth stopping by.
We visited the Park of Miniature Monuments of Lower Silesia in Kowary on our way back from Szklarska Poreba to Lodz. Several people recommended it to us, and although we were initially quite skeptical (the vision of a flying 3-year-old between mini-objects scared us off), the close proximity and beautiful weather encouraged us to make a short stop. And from a short stop, we made about two hours, and little did we stay until the evening ;)
In Kowary there is the eponymous Park of Miniatures of Lower Silesia and right next door, the Palace Playhouse – a place full of fun, inflatables, jumping, running, slides and whatever else the kids can think of. Why didn’t we go in there? Because we wouldn’t leave there again ;) and seriously, these kinds of attractions are not advisable for smaller children, so we preferred to explain that we will come back here in a year or two and then there will be a lot more fun and games (this was successfully explained, seriously). So this time we shortened our stay in Kowary with the intention of returning in the future and fully focusing on the Miniature Park.
And we emphasize right away – this is not a place just for families with children, so if you don’t have children read on, because you might like it here.

About Miniature Park in Kowary
The Park of Miniature Monuments of Lower Silesia Kowary is a not-so-large area where, mostly outdoors, you can see miniature versions of the most interesting objects from the region (and not only, but more on that below).
After passing through the gates, we enter the garden, where every few meters there are beautifully reproduced castles, palaces, religious buildings, etc. There is no designated tour path, but you can join groups with a guide (we walked with such a group for a while and the knowledge and the way it was conveyed by the guide was really at a high level).
Mostly, however, we walked individually, stopping every now and then at every object, even unfamiliar ones. On the one hand, it was an opportunity to get to know new places, to plan future trips, and on the other hand, to see from a different perspective objects we had already seen in normal dimensions. It must be said that the mapping is impressive. Every detail, characters and descriptions encourage you to stop, look closely and read.
On top of that, you can see the top of Snow Mountain through a telescope set up, when there is a miniature of it right in front of you :)
The park, is also several facilities tucked away in the building. Here we can find miniatures of the most interesting buildings not only from Poland (e.g. City Hall in Wroclaw), but also our neighbors (e.g. objects from Saxony, of which, we had seen the originals just two months earlier).
Kowary Miniature Park for children
Is there anything here for children? Will they be bored? Absolutely not :-)
Olive eagerly approached each structure, looking at the details, figures and animals. We told her when we had been where, read descriptions of the sites and planned our next voyages.
The biggest attractions were the ascent to the top of Sněžka and the legendary golden train that travels around the miniature castle of Książ. All the kids would stop here, look out for an oncoming train or run after it.
Older children are sure to be taken to the aforementioned adjacent Palace Playroom.
>> Do you like miniatures? We also recommend you, among others, Kolejkowo Wrocław – because it is not only mock-ups and trains, but also Lower Silesia in miniature :)
Practical information
The facility is located in Kowary, less than 8 kilometers from Karpacz. Taking road 366 from Karpacz, turn right at the end of the village, behind the halls. We are writing about this because navigators can misdirect to the left. There is free car parking on site.
It is worth reserving about an hour for the tour.
There is a cafe in the park, and a window in front of the entrance where you can buy something to eat.

Although we weren’t convinced at first, it’s a good thing we decided to go a little out of our way to get home. It was a pleasantly spent time, among the sights, in the fresh air. Surprisingly pleasantly spent :-)
