10. Łódź Fabryczna railway station
Everyone is close to Lodz. The city is located in central Poland, at the intersection of the main A1 and A2 highways. On top of that, as early as December 11, 2016, you will be able to reach it at a super modern station, right in the center of the “emerging city.”
And in recent days, precisely because of this, there is a terrible buzz about him. Not surprisingly. The mega station, Łódź Fabryczna, as it is referred to, had been under construction for five years. Even before it opened, it was hailed as the most beautiful train station in Poland.
But why was it on our list?
– For it is here that you will in all likelihood begin your tour of Lodz.
– Because it is located in the center of a completely redeveloped quarter of the city called the New Center of Lodz. And every day the place will change and develop, so there will always be something new to see ;)
– Because it is simply beautiful! :)

9. Liberty Square (and Nowosolna)
Liberty Square in Lodz, formerly known as the New Market. It can be said that this is where Lodz begins. It was here that a new clothmaking settlement once began to be delineated, which gave rise to the rapid development of the city.
It is also here that Piotrkowska Street, perhaps the most famous promenade in Poland (which, incidentally, is not included in our list ;-)) begins.
Here you will find three important buildings: the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography, the Church of Pentecost and the State Archives of Lodz.
The square itself is octagonal in shape, making it extremely unique. There are not many such squares around the world.
Speaking of eight… then you know that in Lodz there is a unique intersection where as many as 8 (!!!) roads intersect. Unique, but at the same time hell for local residents ;)
8 Radegast Station
Radegast Station is a place that, surprisingly, many Lodz residents don’t know about. And it’s a pity, because this is a very important point on the map of Lodz, closely linked to the history of the Lodz Ghetto. It was a place from which thousands of people departed To extermination camps, among others. To Auschwitz.
Today there is a monument and a small museum there.
May our world see no more such stories.
7th Survivors Park
Not far from the Radegast Station is another site associated with the horrors of the Lodz ghetto. This is the Survivors’ Park and the Sakharov Dialogue Center located there. Mark Edelman.
The park was created quite recently (in 2004) to commemorate those locked up in the Lodz ghetto. Survivors planted their trees here on the opening day, 450 in all. There is also the Mound of Remembrance and the Monument to Poles Saving Jews with plaques commemorating the “Righteous Among the Nations.”
The most important river in Lodz, the Łódka River, runs through the entire area.
6. off Piotrkowska (and Piotrkowska 217)
Contrary to appearances, Off Piotrkowska (and Piotrkowska 217) is not just a place for hipsters, so don’t be discouraged when entering through the gate ;) Both places offer interesting places where you can eat deliciously, drink coffee, good wine or other stronger drinks.
Also, both sites have a similar history, being located on post-factory grounds. Food festivals, eco fairs and other interesting events are also held here. An ideal place to relax between exploring other points on the map of Lodz :)
5. planetarium EC1
The EC1 Lodz Planetarium is located right next to the Lodz Fabryczna Station, within the New Center of Lodz. It is the most modern planetarium in Poland with a dome with a diameter of 18 meters where there is a spherical screen with a diameter of 14 meters.
The 8K resolution will give you an amazing experience, so you can confidently buy tickets for one of the screenings.
We must add that the Planetarium at EC1 Łódź is ranked number one in National Geographic’s 7 Wonders of Poland.
4. Lagiewnicki Forest + Lodz parks
Lodz is a very green city. Among other things, thanks to the largest forest complex within the city limits in Europe, the Lagiewnicki Forest. For us, it is an ideal place for leisurely weekends: whether by bicycle, running, or for leisurely walks. Many Lodz residents here find refreshment by the ponds in Arturówek, which is located in almost the very center of Lagiewniki.
Also worth mentioning here are Lodz’s parks, of which there are more than 30! Surprisingly, Lodz owes many of its parks to Lodz’s factory owners, who established them for their workers. With a pure heart, we can recommend any of them to you, but we especially recommend Źródliska Park, Mickiewicz Park, Pilsudski Park (the so-called Park on the Health) and Poniatowski Park.
3. Księży Młyn
Since we’re talking about Lodz factory owners, let’s start our podium.
In third place was Księży Młyn, the Karol Scheibler factory and residential complex. In truth, it is nothing more than a city within a city. There used to be factories here, homes for their workers, a kindergarten, a school, a hospital…. there was even its own currency in circulation here.
The complex, neglected for years, has been returning to favor for several years. Renovated factories and other buildings are attracting investors and residents. Life thrives here during the week and on weekends.
We also recommend you to see the Palace of Edward Herbst and the Museum of Cinematography located in the area of Księży Młyn.
2. murals in Lodz
We recently wrote about murals in Gdansk. So how could we not mention the murals in Lodz!
Lodz, like Gdansk, stands with murals. The difference is that in Lodz they are scattered literally all over the city. Just like in Gdansk, new, successive large-format projects created by artists from all over the world are created here every now and then.
Nothing but heads up and you can spend hours admiring the beautiful works instead of the gray drab walls :)
1. the Manufaktura and Poznański Palace
Well! Well, now we have fallen in! We love shopping malls ;)
Oh no, it’s not like that. Everyone has probably heard of Manufaktura and everyone probably associates it with the shopping center. For us, however, it is something completely different.
Manufaktura (along with the adjacent beautiful Poznański Palace) is none other than the factory complex of Israel Poznański, another great Lodz factory owner. Like Księży Młyn, it had been deteriorating forgotten for years. Thousands of Lodz residents drove right past every day to work without knowing the history of the place, and the site is unique in the world.
Poznański Palace itself is known as “the Louvre of Łódź.” Built in a variety of styles today it serves, among other things. function of the Museum of the History of the City of Lodz, which you absolutely must visit.
Manufaktura today is home to museums (not one!), a cinema, numerous (and tasty) restaurants, a hotel, climbing walls, a fitness center, an ice rink in winter and a beach in summer…. That is, still such a city within a city :)
