Majaland or Mandoria? Which amusement park should you choose when you want the whole family to spend an unforgettable weekend visiting an amusement park? In this post we will compare these two very similar facilities to help you decide where to go with your children.
Why are Majaland Kownaty and Mandoria similar? First of all, because both places advertise themselves as an indoor amusement park, open all year round. That is, whether in summer when it rains or in winter when it’s simply too cold outside, you can visit both. Both also target a similar audience, namely families with children (with an emphasis on those smaller children).
We visited both facilities in person and spent at least one full day filled with fun activities with our children in each. So we have formed our own opinion about which facility is better…. And while we know which one we liked better, the answer to the title question is not simple, because something different will certainly be important to everyone. Therefore, we will present to you below both the pros and cons of Mandoria and Majaland so that you can decide for yourself which place is worth going to.
Because let’s not kid ourselves, both facilities are quite expensive, which (unfortunately!) is standard in this type of facilities. So we understand that not everyone will immediately throw themselves into both places, and simply choose what is better for him or her.
Table of contents
Pros – Mandoria City of Adventure
+ The covered part of Mandoria is definitely larger than the one in Majaland. Even, as the owners themselves write, it is the largest of its kind in Europe. It is also, in our opinion, much better and more interestingly organized.
+ Location! Mandoria is simply located in central Poland! Everyone is close here ;) Of course, the closest residents of Lodz or Warsaw, but it is safe to write that for a large part of the Polish population Mandoria is available as a one-day trip to a theme park.
+ Large, spacious and free parking. Which, despite appearances, is not always so obvious ;)
+ Attractions inside are both for young children, the elderly but also for adults. We, spending the whole day there, also had a great time. While this is not Energylandia or any other facility of its kind, we also enjoyed various rides and attractions.
+ Inside you will find as many as 2 rollercoasters! They are not very big, of course, but for both small and big it is great fun. You can ride them from 95 and 100 cm!
+ Quite an interesting food offer not based only on fries, burgers and waffles :)
+ Large Family Card and 500+ Tourist Voucher are accepted.
+ This is probably already the smallest plus, but it perfectly completes the whole. The decor, atmosphere, themes and arranged space. The creators of Mandoria have created an amazing atmosphere. You can see that the smallest details have been taken care of and everything fits together perfectly. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this vibe is not lost during the expansion :)
Minuses – Mandoria City of Adventure
– Price. And it’s not about the price per se, because it’s well known that places and amusement parks of this type cost quite a lot, and the price in such places defends itself when we use all these attractions. The issue here is the lack of differentiation of tickets for smaller children and… adults.
We are most surprised that children over 85 cm tall pay the same entrance fee as adults. Okay, they already have various attractions available, but not even half. In our opinion, the price here should be much lower and apply so to a height of 100-120 cm.
Guests and other visitors also often raise the argument that the adult price is too high, that tickets should be cheaper for adults, too. Here we have mixed feelings, because we as adults after visiting Mandoria felt satisfied and felt that it was worth spending the 99 zloty for an adult ticket (another question is whether we would definitely come here without children ;) ).
– The outer part is missing. This one is in the plans. And yes, we are comparing these amusement parks as being open all year round, under a roof, but it would be nice to be able to not sit under a roof all day and take a quick rollercoaster ride feeling the fresh air in your hair or cooling off at some water attraction on a hot day :)
Pros – Majaland Kownaty
+ External part. This one is completely missing from Mandoria for the moment. In summer, this is Majaland’s biggest plus when these two amusement parks clash. We’re not even going to write that there is a super water playground or a rollecoaster of the real kind :) Just the outdoor part is like 10:0 for Majaland in the summer ;-)
+ Very large catering area inside (under the roof). Definitely larger than in Mandoria, which calmly posed to eat a meal during a busy day, even on days when only the indoor section is open (although the food is not outstandingly delicious).
+ Attractions “for adults”, in the sense of teenagers and “adult adults” :) In the outer part of Majaland, larger children and adults will definitely find more attractions for themselves than in Mandoria for the moment.
+ Prices. It is well known, these will always be too big, especially if you count a whole family of 4 people. But compared to Mandoria, in Majaland we have cheaper tickets for children between 85 and 99 cm tall (half the price). Adults continue to pay full price (the same as in Mandoria 99 zloty). On the plus side, there are also cheaper tickets in the off-high season, for seniors 70+ and afternoon tickets.
Minuses – Majaland Kownaty
– Location. Unfortunately Majaland is located far away :) Majaland is located in the village of Kownaty, near the A2 highway, some 40 km from the German border. This means that from the east of our country, or even from central Poland, there is a long journey ahead (340 km from Lodz, 440 km from Warsaw, Katowice or Gdansk). For a day trip with children it is not very suitable.
– Expensive access. In a way, it follows from the above. Because you already have to arrange accommodation in the area. On top of that, however, there is also the cost of the highway, which (A2) in the section from Konin to the borders with Germany is not among the cheapest. This unfortunately lowers Majaland’s advantage when it comes to pricing.
– Smaller inner part. There are far fewer indoor attractions than in Mandoria, and the space itself is less well laid out as well….
– Interior part decor. While we understand and like the division of the outside into themed zones (Vikings, Maya Bee, Super Wings…) the inside part in our opinion is far too chaotic, too dark and too stuffed with all the attractions in one place. In this case, Mandoria definitely wins in our opinion.
– Paid parking. Apparently only £12 for the whole day, but the competition offers it for free :)
Mandoria or Majaland Kownaty? – summary
There is no single answer, we, of course, have our opinions.
We also recommend to you our two YouTube videos of our visit to both of these parks:
🎬 Majaland Kownaty on YouTube
And 🎬 Mandoria City of Adventure on YouTube.
If it were not for the location of Majaland (which we have the impression is more for German than Polish guests), we definitely think Majaland would win in this comparison if we are talking about the high season. The number of attractions available inside and out definitely puts Majaland in first place.
In the off-high season or when the weather outside the window is not so beautiful anymore, we definitely recommend Mandoria more, which has by far the largest area under the roof. Mandoria, of course, has another indisputable plus which is its location in the very center of Poland.
So if you have Kownaty on the way, live nearby or want to visit something in the area on occasion, we definitely recommend Majaland to you in warm weather. On other days Mandoria. At least until, the latter expands to include outdoor attractions, for which we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed and which we will certainly inform you about.
And how, did we help you with your choice? :)
