Today we will describe for you a certain place in Lodz province, where time runs slower, where you are surrounded by nature and can finally focus on what you usually lack time for. Read on and find out why you will enable airplane mode on your smartphone here ;)
This year is very intense for us. And it’s good, there’s a lot going on, we travel a lot, write a lot and take part in more and more interesting projects and ventures.
However, there comes a time when you want to take a break from everything, get away for a while and just enjoy the here and now. We had been planning a short weekend trip, preferably to a spa, for some time, but something kept falling out and we couldn’t find a free weekend. Finally, when the first yellow leaves appeared on the trees, we decided that there was no need to wait any longer, as autumn would eventually escape us.
We searched, asked around, read reviews and our choice fell on the Stara Wieś Resort and SPA in Załęcze Mały near Wieluń. It is ideal for a weekend getaway from Lodz, as it takes less than two hours to get here, and it is also close from the Silesian, Greater Poland and Lower Silesian provinces.
The resort is located on the Warta River, in the Załęczański Landscape Park. The surroundings were not unfamiliar to us, as we had cycled here many times, if only as part of the Bike Orient orienteering rallies. Previously, however, we ended up with day trips, a quick bike ride, but this time was going to be different.

No, just take advantage of every free moment for things we increasingly lack time for. However, it turned out that our “business” plans took a hit. Why?

Where is this network?
We arrived in Old Village late on Friday evening. At the reception desk, the keys and a map to the house where we were to spend the next two nights were already waiting for us.
So we drove into the forest in search of a row of houses where our lodging was to be on the edge. It turned out that at our disposal we had a two-story house, a terrace, a garage (!), a garden, and on top of that, a view of the pond and the Warta River! At home, the stove was already lit and the refrigerator was stocked with fresh local produce for breakfast. Only the rain drumming on the windowpanes put us in a slightly more pessimistic mood, because, however, we had firmly set our sights on spending whole days among nature, rather than locked inside four walls. Fortunately, among the pile of bundles that we packed in the car there was not even a lack of wellingtons, not to mention rain suits, so no weather was terrible for us ;)

Moments later, we found that the WiFi signal was also so weak that it might as well not be there at all. And then we realized that we would not work for ourselves, and the thought immediately crossed our minds that, after all, this is not why we escape to nature for the weekend to sit in front of a screen!
Unfortunately, at such moments a person realizes how important a role new technologies have begun to occupy in our lives. Already leaving aside the issues of working on the blog and social media…. We are drawn to virtual contact with people, we check every now and then what’s going on with friends and family, whether someone has written or called anything, we have constant access to information and at any time we can check, verify, search or even buy something.
Well, so we decided to turn on airplane mode on our phones for most of our stay in the Old Village, or turn them off completely and leave them at the cottage. Thanks to this, the phone does not consume a lot of battery to constantly search for the network, and we were able to take care of what is forgotten on a daily basis :)
And guess what? It turned out that we needed the detox. Finally, we were not in a hurry anywhere, we had no plans, we did not spend our free time at the computer. Our eyes and minds really relaxed.
What to do on the ground?
So what did we do over the weekend? Above all, we relaxed and spent time together.
First, in the resort itself – there are playgrounds, barbecue areas, gazebos, walking paths, a pond, and even a small beach and volleyball court. We even discovered a remnant of a Buddhist center that was once located here!
In the summer, there are even more activities here – you can ride pedal boats, kayaks, use the pool, and there is a bar by the beach.
Since this is a SPA center you can also relax here during massages, sit in the Jacuzzi or at least go for a session in the salt grotto (we recommend! there is even a corner for children).
We also particularly liked the playroom, where there is plenty of space for children (including babies), a ping pong table, books, a couch and a game console (meaning even the elderly have something to do here ;)).
We also made the assumption that over the weekend we would not go any shopping, would not go to a restaurant, and would prepare everything ourselves. So the temptation to move to the city was even less, and in fact we didn’t even move the car during our entire stay.
For that, we did a lot of walking in the nearby coniferous forests and walked along the guard. Without purpose and without hurry. In silence, peace and quiet, sometimes in the rain :) The organisms were finally oxygenated decently, and the fresh air and lack of technology did us good.
If we could come back here in better weather we would definitely take our bikes with us – the area is just perfect for hopping on two wheels!
Summary
We needed such a reboot. We escaped from all the worries, cares, haste. We had time to think about various things in peace and quiet, we came up with some interesting ideas for weekends and further trips.
The most important thing, however, is that we were able to pay 100% attention to each other and savor what was around us without rushing.
p.s. Don’t be afraid – there is good coverage of both mobile network and WiFi in the reception, spa and playroom.
p.s. 2 You can book an overnight stay, for example, here.
