The Giant Mountains, especially the area around Karpacz, is an ideal place for a family trip. All the more so because it is a region that is especially friendly to families with children. Today we will write to you about our stay at the Osada Sniezka resort near Karpacz, during our weekend getaway.
For a long time we had been measuring the idea of going to the mountains for the weekend. However, something always crossed our plans: either longer trips, or something to do in our home city, or business commitments.

September weekend in the mountains
It was hard for us to plan a trip to the mountains in advance for another reason as well: it was a shame for us to drive 4-6 hours just for one or two days on site. Assuming that we only set off on Friday after work, we have to return on Sunday evening, that leaves only about a day and a half. Lame. So we decided to extend our September weekend and flew (not literally!) near Karpacz, to Lomnica.
The last time we were in this area was in the first half of 2016, when we visited the castles of Lower Silesia, and on this occasion ventured towards Karpacz. Back then, I was already in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy, so walking even in the Giant Mountains was a challenge. Not that it is significantly easier with a baby ;) But somehow it is better to carry 10 kg in a carrier than to walk uphill in a blessed state. In the first case, the burden can be passed on to someone else, and the pregnant woman will not be so easily carried ;-)
So, we decided that the September weekend must be spent in the mountains, but not necessarily immediately throwing ourselves into the deep end, or perhaps it would sound better: the highest peaks. This time we focused on rest, relaxation (after all, we had reason to celebrate), with a hint of short and easy mountain trails, and you don’t have to worry about those in the Giant Mountains.
Accommodation in the Giant Mountains?
But before we talk about the mountains, we should mention here that in the village of Lomnica itself there is a palace, which we have already shown you in the past(here). Lately we have treated the place a bit in a low-key way, passing through and in a hurry. Also in close proximity is Wojanow Palace, a picturesque palace that has been converted into a hotel and conference complex with a spa(more). Why is it worth mentioning? Because the area is not only mountains and hiking. It’s also an area where you’ll find better or worse preserved palaces, castles as well as many, many attractions for children. So much so that expect a separate post from us with attractions for toddlers :)
Snow White settlement – family settlement in Lomnica
As a base, we chose the Snow White Settlement – a modern family complex, where every toddler will find something for himself, and awaken the slumbering child in adults ;)
At first glance, you might think that the whole complex is a moloch, a combination of Golębiowski and Tatralandia, but nothing could be further from the truth. Here we can find accommodation in hotel rooms, but also in apartments, which are well equipped and have a lot of space.
We were in an apartment with a terrace and kitchen – very spacious, safe for a child and overlooking a stable with ponies for the children to ride. Imagine what Olive was doing all day :) Yes, she stood glued to the balcony door and smiled at the horses :)
There are plenty of attractions at the resort: an open and enclosed swimming pool, inflatable attractions for children, a playground, an enclosed playroom for the younger and the older ones, a fit center, a Jacuzzi, two restaurants, a pizzeria, a bar, bike rental (and even trailers for children)…. and much, much more.
You can peacefully spend several days in the resort itself and relax. I especially recommend the Beauty (SPA) area, where you can choose from a variety of treatments for the soul and body.
Despite the many guests, we did not hear any noises, at night it was quiet. On the other hand, during the day, families with children can be found at every turn. Maybe we’re just paying more attention, but we were pleased to see that many parents are choosing to at least take weekend trips with their children (and even large families).
Being at breakfast (by the way, they serve baaavery good breakfasts here, and there is something different every day) we saw at least a dozen feeding chairs, and around us most of the guests were just parents with toddlers.
Our hearts were especially stolen by the children’s room, which was a lifesaver on a rainy afternoon.
Anyway, the settlement itself is located in a beautiful setting. Just look what views we had, beautiful mornings and evenings:
You can book an overnight stay at the Settlement here.
Our review of the Snow White Settlement?
It was supposed to be a quiet and relaxing weekend. Some relax by hiking in the mountains, some by lying in a spa, but no matter which way is closer to you, you are sure to find something for you in the area.
And if you are already going to the area, we highly recommend you to stay at the Snow White Settlement (they have great reviews on Booking)!
