Zoo Safari Borysew is a zoo in the Lodz province, near Poddębice. It is the only zoo in Poland where you can meet the White African lions and white Bengal tigers, and it is these that generate the most interest among visitors. In this post, we’ll show you what animals and attractions await visitors in Borysewo, as well as its pros and cons…
Zoo Safari Borysew is a unique place on the map of Lodz voivodeship, one of the most popular when it comes to attractions for families with children. No wonder, it is well known that children love animals, and the zoo is a place not only to see animals but also to learn about them.
The Borysew Safari Zoo was established in 2008, and since 2011 it has been granted the status of a zoo by the General Director of Environmental Protection [source]. Since its inception, the zoo’s territory has been expanded almost twice, and from 30 species that inhabited the Borishev Zoo in the beginning, it has become as many as 90. The garden has grown significantly, with many new animals and attractions for visitors adding variety to their visit to the zoo. In addition to families, many school and summer camp excursions come here, and the place has already become a permanent fixture as one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Lodz region (the facility has been decorated, among other things. Certified by the Polish Tourist Organization as the Best Tourist Product 2017).

What animals can be seen at the Borishev Safari Zoo?
Borysewo Zoo is primarily famous for its white lions and tigers – it is the only place in Poland where you can see them. What’s more, these animals manage to reproduce, so the facility has witnessed the birth of baby African lions and Bengal tigers on more than one occasion (which is not easy in conditions unnatural for these animals). Currently, representatives of the same species can be seen in different enclosures (they are separated).
What other animals can be seen in Borysewo? Giraffes, llamas, pumas, alpacas, camels, antelopes, buffaloes, tamarins, zebras, ostriches, kangaroos, watusses, peacocks, lemurs await visitors. In a separate section we will meet an alligator and a python, and of the animals that inhabit the aquatic environment, we should mention seals, turtles, and by them we will see pelicans.
Particularly noteworthy is the Water World section – it is an artificial body of water with islands, bridges, waterfalls and fountains, which can be walked on foot or cruised by a water bike rented for a fee. The islands are home to lemurs, peacocks, pelicans and alligators.
The youngest visitors are sure to enjoy entering the mini zoo to pet the goats, sheep and alpacas.
When planning a walk through the zoo, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself in advance with the feeding times so you can be at least at a few (there are as many as 21 per day). It is not just a simple feeding, but the caretakers tell interesting facts about the animals on the occasion.
Additional attractions
We mentioned above the possibility of taking a pedal boat through part of the zoo and a mini zoo, but are there any other attractions on the premises? As much as possible, however, it should be noted right away that there are additional fees.
For children there is the Figlarnia – a large room with inflatables, a ball pool and trampolines (in season the inflatables are also outside). For those who crave extra thrills, there is a 3D cinema with additional effects (Emotion Accelerator).
You can also visit the garden by riding a special train that transports you around the Zoo Safari grounds and the guide in between tells many interesting facts about the animals and the garden itself. There is a fee for the ride, but in case of inclement weather (when it rains) the train is free.
Practical advice Zoo Safari Borysew
The walking area is quite large and you should wear comfortable footwear and head protection. Unfortunately, as there are not many shady places here, so especially on sunny days you need to take baseball caps or hats with you and use cosmetics with sun protection. In our opinion, there is also a lack of rest areas (although this has hopefully already changed since our last visit).
What can you eat locally?
On the premises, at the entrance, is the Grill Bar, where you can eat something nutritious and warm.
Adaptation for families with smaller children
The area of the facility is rather suitable for movement with a baby stroller. Walking with only a toddler on a hot day, there was not enough room to hide in the shade.
There is a special hut where you can feed your toddler in peace.

Our opinion about Zoo Safari Borysew
Boris Safari Zoo will definitely appeal to families with children, it is the only place in Poland where you can meet such rare species as white lions and tigers!
However, you should know that coming here is quite a cost and you should be prepared to spend extra on paid attractions (inflatables, water biking, cinema, train rides).
Nevertheless, a visit to the Zoo Safari Borysew is an idea for at least a few hours of time well spent outdoors.
