Enjoy today’s post with our list of TOP 5 places to visit in Switzerland. Some cosmically expensive, others completely free, there are cities, there is nature, there are views…. What is worth seeing? There is something for everyone!
For the past few months we have been dwelling on interesting corners of Switzerland. It was going a little slow, from the get-go, and we were revisiting memories of a trip that had already taken place more than a year ago! And yet, the camper trip in Switzerland was an unforgettable adventure: first time in Switzerland, first time in a camper, beautiful views, fantastic memories but also many challenges, some problems.
Because driving an RV is demanding in its own way, as we found out firsthand. And it’s not just about moving slower, looking for places to spend the night, spending more time setting up for the night (yes, with a trailer and tent it probably takes even more time), etc. It’s also about planning the entire trip.
Why are we writing about it now? Because the plan was that we would take the Grand Tour around Switzerland, and it worked out quite differently. We took the Grand Tour route, but only part of it, because some of the roads were closed, we wouldn’t have been able to get everywhere in the camper, and the time we allotted for the trip was too short.

What is worth seeing in Switzerland?
Thus, we saw only half of Switzerland. But a beautiful half. There were breathtaking views, atmospheric cities and towns, mountain serpentines, fantastic campsites. Memories and adventures aplenty.
Today it’s time to recommend 5 unique places and experiences for you to see and experience for yourself.
1. Titlis
Our most expensive event during the entire trip. Let’s not kid ourselves, mountain peaks with children are not going to be conquered, so we gladly took the opportunity to take our four letters by carriages, almost to the very top of Titlis. As we wrote in this post, our wallets came back empty, but we came back filled with the joy of seeing another beautiful place.
And this is by no means about driving in, seeing the tops of the mountains and returning. The ride up in the rotating gondola itself is an interesting experience, and at the top, for example, you’ll have to cross a bridge suspended over a precipice or climb into the depths of a glacier.
2. the Rheinfall
This waterfall, the largest in Europe, is located near Shafuza. The incredible power of the water, the viewing platforms and the possibility to swim quite close to the waterfall make it a place to mark on the map when planning a trip in Switzerland. For more information, please see this post.
3. Stein am Rhein
In our opinion, Stein am Rhein is the most beautiful town in the part of Switzerland we visited. Small, quiet, peaceful, picturesquely located with a beautiful old town. See here why it’s worth a visit :)
4 Lucerne
Lucerne is, in our opinion, the second most beautiful city, right after Stein am Rhein. There are definitely more monuments here (e.g., the Monastery Bridge, the city walls, the old town with beautiful decorations on the townhouses), but thus it is more crowded. It’s worth spending a whole day here – more about Lucerne in this post.
5. the St. George Pass. Gotard and scenic routes
We have not written about this place on the blog so far. We dreamed of driving the famous winding road, even though it would have been quite a challenge for us in an RV.
Unfortunately, during our stay in Switzerland, the road turned out to be closed and we could only admire it from behind the windows of the camper and not in the best weather.
However, we do know that both the St. Helena Pass and the St. Helena River. Gotarda as well as the beautiful Swiss routes deserve to be mentioned in this post, because the ride itself is a great adventure.
Summary and map
These are just some of the places we recommend, as we have many, many more memories. However, if you have a trip to Switzerland in mind, be sure to include these places on your map – we have prepared a map with marked places for your convenience:
As mentioned, it was a trip full of adventure and excitement. Switzerland is a beautiful country, and the above points are just the tip of the iceberg :)
