Do you also unbuckle your seatbelt as soon as you land? See why it’s not allowed!

The topic may seem rather strange or too obvious to you, but we really wanted to cover it on our blog. It might seem that listening to the instructions of the cabin crew on an airplane is obvious and unquestionable…, however, not for everyone.

But what is the point?

Well, we fly a lot (although there are probably a bunch of people who even non-business fly more than we do). In the course of all our takeoffs and landings, though mostly just landings, a certain thing annoys us very, very much. And no, this is not about clapping :)

I don’t even remember a flight that wasn’t without the sound of seat belts being unbuckled as soon as the plane landed. Ba! It happened that the plane barely touched the runway with its wheels, and already people were unbuckling their belts and reaching for their luggage…. After all, the plane still has to decelerate, reach a parking area (under or near the terminal) where it can safely disembark passengers and take on more.

Do you unbuckle your seatbelt when driving your car because you have already entered a residential street?

That’s right. The plane is still riding along the airport tarmac, with often quite a long way to the parking area ahead of it, and more people unbuckling their seatbelts. They also often stand up. Instead of taking care of their procedures, the poor flight attendants have to keep an eye on passengers and ask them to sit in their seats. Do you think they are doing it out of spite?

We arrived in front of the terminal, at least that’s what we see behind the windows of the plane. Well, now it’s just a matter of connecting the sleeve and you can get off. But we are still standing for a while. The seat belt sign lights up all the time. But overall, what’s the point? After all, we are already standing and I have to quickly fly to get my luggage so that no one takes it away from me…. And you can hear another clanking of unbuckled seat belts….

And then, just such a situation a few days ago at one of the international airports:

In the video above, a Turkish Airlines plane (Airbus A321) is seen pulling up to the terminal at Istanbul Airport. There are passengers on board. The plane has not yet arrived at the designated place, nevertheless it stands for a while under the terminal.

Behind it, a larger aircraft (Airbus A330) is following, taxiing along the tarmac before taking off…. and suddenly hooks up with the tail of the former. Take a look at Turkish Airlines hopping and what’s left of its tail. As a reminder, there are still passengers on board. Just imagine what happens inside.

According to the information under the video, fortunately no one was hurt. However, I wouldn’t want to be in the place of those passengers, even less so if someone nearby had already unbuckled his seatbelt and was reaching for his luggage in the overhead compartment.

The fasten seatbelt sign means that the seatbelt must be fastened.
